The Trustees of the Norman Family Charitable Trust recently made a special presentation to Roger Dawe to mark his retirement and long association with the Trust which was originally formed in 1979. He helped establish the Trust with its founder Ken Norman. Mr Norman established the ‘Normans’ retail group from a single branch in Budleigh Salterton and expanded the group to many outlets throughout the South West.
Roger Dawe, a well known and now retired Exmouth solicitor, was one of the 5 founding trustees in 1979 and, on the death of Ken Norman in 2001 succeeded him as Trust Chairman.
The Norman Family Charitable Trust has over the last 39 years made over 10,000 grants totalling nearly £9 million, mainly to recipients in the South West, with emphasis on Exeter and East Devon.
The Trustees presented Roger Dawe with an inscribed garden seat and bird bath at his home in Exmouth. He has been succeeded as Chairman of the Norman Family Charitable Trust by Michael Saunders.
